The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Tourism Committee and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, organized a press tour in Karakalpakstan.

Participants in the press tour, including tour operators, local and foreign media, were introduced to the tourism potential of the region, particularly the Akchakul tourist-recreational zone in the Ellikkala district.

“After Akchakul was designated a tourist and recreational zone on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, large-scale work was carried out here. All conditions for recreation are created for local and foreign tourists,” said Seidamat Avezov, akim of the Ellikkala  district. “The lake area has been cleared of 3 thousand tons of garbage, roads and power supply systems have been improved, the area has been landscaped, and accommodation facilities have been built for tourists.Beach soccer and bike paths have been organized. Now we are also creating conditions for tourists with disabilities,” he added.

It should be noted that the territory of Akchakul is 6 thousand hectares; hostels and yurts are available for tourists.Hostels can accommodate 80 people, while yurts can accommodate 40 people. In the near future, a 5-star hotel and 10 cottages that meet all hospitality standards will be opened for tourists.

During the day, tourists can enjoy the unique nature, vast water bodies, and historical monuments of Akchakul, while in the evening they can enjoy concert programs consisting of folklore, ancient games, and national songs. Foreign tourists are also shown various national rituals based on ancient traditions. This, of course, does not leave tourists indifferent. In particular, over the past period, about 50 thousand tourists visited Akchakul.

"You can relax in Akchakul at any time of the year. For example, in winter, fishing is open here. The peculiarity is that half of Akchakul freezes to 30-40 centimeters in winter. Tourists break the ice and catch fish. This is a special kind of pleasure," said Oybek Jumabaev, the head of "Tuprokkalla Tour". "In addition, we are trying to attract more young tourists here. Various sports games are organized specifically for them. Also, in the region we are building a hippodrome with a capacity of 50 thousand,” he added.

It should be noted that work aimed at creating more comfortable conditions for tourists in Akchakul is being carried out on an ongoing basis. The goal is to attract more attention from tourists, increase internal and external tourist flows, and demonstrate the tourism potential not only of Aqchako‘l but also of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
