A new museum building dedicated to the life history of Japanese citizens in Uzbekistan has opened in Tashkent

On April 30, was held a solemn ceremony dedicated to the opening of the new museum building, "A commemorative exhibition about the stay of Japanese citizens in Uzbekistan in the 40s".

The event was attended by Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Hatori Takashi, founder and director of the museum Jalil Sultanov, representatives of the Society of Japan in Uzbekistan, and the media.

As part of the ceremony, the transfer of the "Order of the Sacred Treasure of the Sixth Degree",  found in the territory of the Andijan region in the village of "Chuama", to the museum's collection took place. It is noted that such orders were awarded to the military and civilians for services rendered to the state.

Also, as part of the ceremony, a fragment from the film "Hiiragi" (Holly) was shown, and an introduction to the unique exhibits of the museum took place.

For information: the old museum building was founded 26 years ago, in May 1998, to showcase photographs, documents, and various exhibits that testify to the lives of interned Japanese in Uzbekistan and are also a symbol of friendship between the two countries.

In 2023, a new museum building was built, which is planned to become a tourist attraction for guests from Japan and other countries.
